Leading Indian carmaker Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday took the covers off its flagship product, the Grand Vitara.
Sharing its skeleton with the recently unveiled Toyota Urban Cruiser Hylander, the new SUV follows the brand’s ‘Crafted Futurism’ design language.
It gets a “Fervent Dark Chrome” finish front grille in the Intelligent Electric Hybrid and “Rich Chrome” finish for Progressive Smart Hybrid variants, NEXTre’ signature three-element LED DRLs at the front while the rear end of the vehicle is recognisable with its co-joining LED tail light along with the moniker ‘Grand Vitara on the boot lid. The SUV sits on a set of 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The SUV gets two sets of the hybrid powertrain. The entry-level versions get the company’s own 1.5L K-series engine with Neo Drive (ISG), churning out 75kW of power and 135Nm of torque. Paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed auto, this engine option puts out 75kW and 135Nm of torque.
While the higher-end models will feature the 1.5-litre engine termed the ‘intelligent hybrid system’ paired with an e-CVT gearbox, delivering a combined output of 85kW with the engine producing 68kW and a torque of 122Nm and the motor putting out 59kW and torque of 141Nm.
On the inside, the carmaker has tried to give the vehicle a premium touch by adding a dual-tone interior covered in black faux leather with champagne gold accents and a matching stitch pattern in Intelligent Electric Hybrid. The mild hybrid variants get Bordeaux faux leather interior with high Luminant silver accents.
The interior of the SUV greets with an array of technological advancements, including a 360 view camera, head-up display, nine-inch Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital instrument cluster, Qi-certified Wireless charger, front ventilated seats and panoramic sunroof among others.
Additionally, the vehicle also comes with the Next Gen Suzuki Connect, with 40+ connected features, including remote functionalities like AC operation, vehicle safety & security, location and trips, and vehicle status & alerts, among others.
With six monotone colour options and 3 Dual-tone colour options on offer, customers can also customise their vehicle using the two customisation packages the company provides, including Enigmax and Enigmax X.
Regarding safety, the vehicle gets six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Hill Hold Assist, 3-point ELR seat belts (All seats) and Rear Disc Brake and TPMS as standard.
To be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka, the product will be retailed through MSIL’s Nexa premium showroom channel.
