Mahindra has unveiled its flagship Electric Origin SUVs, the BE 6e and XEV 9e, in Chennai, signaling a new era in electric mobility. These vehicles aim to electrify segments that have significant growth potential for electrification, offering competitive pricing and a blend of advanced technology, striking design, and dynamic performance.
These vehicles have several first in segment in India including Sonic Studio by Experience Mahindra with 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system powered by Dolby Atmos, high-performance computing-driven zonal control units, Intelligent Brake System, UV Filtration Glass, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 Processor, Wi-Fi 6.0 & Bluetooth 5.2, ADAS Level 2+ capable of changing lanes on its own, auto park assist and VisionX - augmented-reality HUD.
Targeting High-Potential Segments
According to Rajesh Jejuriker, Executive Director, Auto and Farm Sectors, Mahindra, the company’s strategy revolves around two key SUV categories. The UV1 segment, with a monthly market size of 44,000 units, represents a strong opportunity for the BE 6e, priced at an introductory INR 18.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). Similarly, the UV2&3 categories, encompassing 43,000 units monthly, provide the stage for the XEV 9e, introduced at INR 21.9 lakh.
'These launches are about creating a lifestyle category, with products that combine technology, performance, and price in a way that resonates with the evolving aspirations of Indian consumers,' Jejuriker stated.
Celebrating ‘Unlimited India’
At the launch, Anish Shah, MD & CEO of Mahindra Group, highlighted the theme of 'Unlimited India,' emphasising the country’s growing influence globally. Shah noted India’s economic trajectory, poised to become the third-largest economy in the next five years, and its cultural and technological contributions. The 'ability to be bold and agile' is crucial, he said, adding that the company's focus on crafting innovative and distinctive products highlights India's leadership in sustainability and engineering excellence.

Veejay Nakra, President of Mahindra’s Automotive Sector, described the the two vehicles as embodiments of 'Unlimit Love,' designed to inspire customers to live life without limits. While the BE 6e delivers adrenaline-pumping performance with an athletic silhouette, the XEV 9e focuses on indulgent luxury, featuring a suave SUV coupe design. 'These SUVs are about presence, technology, and performance, setting new global benchmarks,' Nakra added.
R Velusamy, President of Automotive Product Development, emphasised that these SUVs are 'Born Electric,' setting new performance and technology standards. Built on Mahindra’s revolutionary INGLO Electric Origin Architecture and powered by MAIA, a state-of-the-art AI platform, these vehicles are designed to redefine global benchmarks.
