Chennai-based Jidoka Technologies, which is involved in industrial automation, delivering cutting-edge engineering solutions to a diverse range of problems, is working on two new projects to help its clients improve upon the ongoing solutions for quality checks.

Believing that robotics will play a significant role in plant automation across all industries around the world in the future, the company that is also working in automated cognitive inspection for manufacturing, is looking at AI and vision-guided robotics to be integrated into its upcoming products.

Speaking to Mobility Outlook, Dr Krishna Iyengar, CTO and Co-founder, Jidoka Technologies, said the idea behind the project is to allow the robots to make decisions on their own without any human intervention. “We believe AI is going to be a huge driving factor in changing the factory scenarios in future. We have already started working with our partners on the same, and we want to integrate them in our future products.”

Simultaneously, the company is also working on improving its present-day technology with sound-based analytics. This will ensure much higher accuracy in defect detection, thus helping the clients increase their profits.

Confirming the timeline of the products, Iyengar stated that the sound-based analytics software is expected to hit the market within the next six months.

Close to INR1 crore has been invested into the projects, he said and added that this investment had been made only on the software front, while for the hardware, it is being supported by the brand partners.

The company’s current product portfolio includes ‘Realtime Quality and Production Metrics’ software along with three other hardware products, namely, Tigris, Huron and Miyake.

The company claims that these products can provide 98% or more defect detection in the quality check process with a significant increase in throughput by 33% and a decrease in the false positives by 30-40%.

Global Goals

Incorporated in 2018, the startup indulged itself in building the product portfolio during its maiden two years. The first customer for the company came in 2019. As of 2021, the CTO claims to be catering to 15 clients across automotive, food and pharmaceutical verticals.

It claimed to have seen a ten-fold growth in its sales during FY21 compared to the previous financial year. Riding on this wave of success, Jidoka aims for 30-50% growth in the next five years. “We want to reach around INR 250 crore by the end of five years,” the CTO added.

Bullish about the market, the company also looks forward to entering into other markets worldwide with its robotics and machine maintenance and IoT integrated software.

Over the next couple of years, the company hopes to enter the US and European markets while also increasing its client base in the food and pharma niche.

“We are having some good inquiries from the US and the European markets. To convert them and to firmly establish our presence there it may take six months or a year,” Iyengar concluded.
