Hyundai Motor India's (HMI) latest offering, the Hyundai Creta N-Line, is a blend of sportiness with family-friendly functionality. Carrying street cred from their motorsport division, the N-Line variants add some differentiated appeal for its customers. So, the exterior and interior have sporty flavour across, which is all backed by the 1.5 litre turbo-petrol engine. Riding on the success of the standard Hyundai Creta, they’ve sold 15,276 units in Feb 2024, the N-Line variants introduce a more athletic dimension to this popular SUV, catering to a segment of buyers seeking a dash of demarcation from the regular folks in their daily drives.

Performance & Driving Dynamics

The centrepiece of the Creta N-Line is a powerful 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, delivering a punchy 158 bhp and 253 Nm of torque. This powertrain is available with two transmission options: a 6-speed manual (6MT) and a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (7DCT), providing versatility to suit different driving preferences. The claimed acceleration from 0-100 kmph in 8.9 seconds indicates that the N-Line is not just about looks; it's got the performance to back up its sporty aspirations. Also note that the same setup with the 7DCT is available in the regular Creta as well, not the 6MT though.

Designed to be more than just about straight-line speed, the vehicle's suspension has been stiffened to offer more agile handling, promising a driving experience that's as engaging on winding roads as it is comfortable on city streets. While the route we drove on mostly had straight line highways and lack of twisty tarmac, we will reserve that thought for now. Other than that a host of 19 ADAS Level 2 features ensures convenience and safety on all your drives.

Exterior Aesthetics

Hyundai has ensured that the Creta N-Line flaunts its N legacy with several design touches. The N-line skid plate and unique logo at the front set a sporty tone, complemented by diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels adorned with the N-line logo. Red brake callipers add a splash of character, while the twin exhaust muffler enhances the vehicle's rear profile, albeit with a subdued auditory presence in line with its sophisticated ethos. However, you will love the way it completely isolates passengers from the bustling street noise outside.

Interior Comfort

The sporty theme extends to the Creta N-Line's interior, where red accents on the dashboard, stitching, and seat upholstery infuse a dynamic vibe. The N logo gear knob is not only a visual treat but also ergonomically designed, enhancing the driving experience. Metal pedals replace the standard rubber ones, elevating the cabin's premium feel. The steering is exactly the right size to hold, and gets an N logo as well which looks brilliant.

As always the ventilated seats are a thoughtful inclusion, offering respite during the hot summer months. The cabin's isolation from external noise and vibrations, coupled with a high-quality audio system and a large panoramic sunroof, ensures a serene and enjoyable environment, even during bustling city drives. There’s also the inclusion of red ambient lightning, but you try and tell us, we drove in the day.

Value Proposition

Priced starting at INR 16.82 lakh (ex-showroom), the Creta N-Line positions itself as an attractive option for buyers seeking a sporty yet practical SUV. While it shares the same engine and transmission options with the standard Creta, the additional features, enticing performance, and distinct styling elements justify the pricing, making it one of the strongest contender in its segment.

However, the competition is stiff, the 7-speed DSG in the Volkswagen Taigun is quicker, the Kushaq is a great handling car, and Kia offers the same setup as well. Where the Hyundai Creta N-Line wins is the complete package. It is a compelling addition to the Creta line-up, offering a sportier edge without compromising on the practicality and comfort that have made the standard model a favourite among Indian families.
