Dassault Systèmes has introduced its DELMIAworks Enterprise Resource Planning (DERP) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) suite of applications into the Indian market.
According to ResearchAndMarkets, India’s manufacturing ERP market accounted for $ 262.7 billion in 2018 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 11.9% over the forecast period 2019-2027, to account for US$ 712.7 Bn in 2027.
The DERP offering also includes a real-time Internet of Things (IoT) solution for production and process monitoring. It focuses on increasing operational efficiency and transparency across organisations with end-to-end financial, design, planning, scheduling, production, quality and warehousing operations.
DERP can help sustain manufacturing during business disruptions by working remotely, minimising plant floor workforce staffing, and managing rapid demand and supply chain changes. In addition, data silos and costly third-party integration are eliminated its database architecture which provides comprehensive interoperability and drill-down capability from order and production to inventory and shipping and more.
By providing a single collaborative environment that connects the entire design to the manufacturing process, DERP transforms monitoring and management of manufacturing workflows and supply chains and provides a connection between engineering and manufacturing for small to large enterprises alongside the Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS applications. As a result, small & medium-sized business customers make up over 80% of the SOLIDWORKS business in India.
“DERP complements our strategy in India to be a trusted solution partner for the discrete manufacturers in the entire value chain- from engineering design to manufacturing, production and shipment of the customers’ product,” said PM Ravikumar, India Management Director, Dassault Systèmes.
“DELMIAworks also connects businesses to the 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace, giving them access to companies that can help with manufacturing engineering and with executing manufacturing services such as contract manufacturing and on-demand part supplies, which are key factors for manufacturing growth in any country.”
The automotive and transportation industry makes up 52% of the company’s customer base, with medical devices firms at approximately 30% and the remaining 18% comprise other customers, including consumer goods and packaging firms.
DERP’s installed base by industry comprises 1,019 businesses, with 26% (250 companies) transportation and mobility sector, high-tech and aerospace and defence at 9% and 38% made up of life sciences industrial equipment companies.
An early adopter of DERP in India was Shaily Engineering Plastics, producing high-precision injection-moulded plastic components for many well-known OEMs. As part of its automotive product portfolio, Shaily manufactures components used in turbochargers of high-end luxury cars. “MES-real-time systems from DELMIAworks enable us to follow real-time production and quality tracking, performance management by order/work centre, inventory valuation and inventory tracking…. Apart from visibility of machine utilisation at all levels on real-time basis, there is constant watch on the cost of poor quality and material yield with deeper insight to it. Such a high level of collaboration calls for a single digital environment that will bring this ecosystem together,” said Chintan Shah, CFO, Shaily Engineering Plastics.
Prior to its acquisition by Dassault Systèmes in 2019 and its renaming as DELMIAworks, the California based firm was originally established in 1989 as IQMS. DELMIAworks is part of other Dassault Systèmes brands such as Solidworks, SIMULIAworks and ENOVIAworks.
