ACMA Automechanika 2021 Goes Online

Trade fairs, held in various markets, contribute majorly to the industry’s growth. One such event is the ACMA Automechanika, which is a biennial trade fair hosted in India.

Trade fairs, held in various markets, contribute majorly to the industry’s growth. One such event is the ACMA Automechanika, which is a biennial trade fair hosted in India. 

Started in 2013, the fifth edition of ACMA Automechanika will be held from April 22 to 23, 2021 in a virtual format due to the travel restrictions given the on-going pandemic. 

Organised by Messe Frankfurt India and the Auto Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the event was planned to be a hybrid event, allowing some exhibitors to showcase their products physically, while a few others would have showcase them online. But due to the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, the whole event would now be held virtually.

Strong Interest 

India is seen as an emerging market for auto components, helping the Indian version of the event build strong connections and doubling up as a hub for meet-ups for innovations and innovators. In association with AIAWA (All India Automobile Workshops Association) and FAIASPDA (Federation of All India Automobile Spare Parts Dealers' Associations), ACMA Automechanika is all set to conduct the fifth edition of the event with about 75 exhibitors registering their presence so far.

The expo will be open between 10 am and 6 pm, and visitors can register on acma-automechanika-new delhi.in.messefrankfurt.com and participate free of cost.

The ACMA Automechanika is recognised as one of the largest automotive aftermarket trade fairs around the world. A total of 17 such fairs take place across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. 

Ever since the inaugural edition of ACMA Automechanika in 2013, the size of the fair has increased gradually every year. While the first edition was spread across 9,109 sq m, the fourth edition in 2019 was spread across 20,033 sq m. The 2019 edition had witnessed a total of 515 exhibitors from 15 different countries, and had attracted over 13,000 visitors from 42 nations. From India alone, visitors from 616 cities participated in the event, enhancing its scale even more. 

Some of the major highlights of the 2019 show were:

- ZF automobile Connect, which provides telematics solutions for railcar fleets;

- Rivets & Riveting Systems introduced by Silkaans that replaces the standard chisel and hammer technique for repairs;

- High-performance bike chains with the aid of using Makino Rk Takasago that gives specialised lubrication and noise reduction operation;

- IONSTAR anti-static pistol for painting workshops or frame shops that calls for no electricity delivery through cable, no batteries or even battery packs. It is done using the techniques of HerrmannLack-Technik GmbH, which is a subsidiary of HerrmannAG;

- A specific air effect wrench with dual hammer mechanism through Airboss Air Tools.

 The 2019 edition saw massive growth in the number of exhibitors. Out of the 515 exhibitors, 239 of them were from abroad. This was significantly more than that of the 2017 edition, which saw participation by 436 exhibitors, including 171 from overseas. The number of visitors in 2019 was also higher than the previous edition. A total of 13,267 visitors turned up in the 2019 ACMA Automechanika, against 11,981 visitors in the 2017 edition. Around 66% of the products showcased in 2019 were automotive parts and components.

2021 Edition Promises More

The fifth edition of the ACMA Automechanika has a lot in store for us. The fair is expected to have a number of panel discussions on the changing environment of the aftermarket auto parts industry. Some of the subjects that will be discussed include digitisation, exports & business drivers and skilling initiative. 

Some prominent speakers joining the panel discussions include Ashok Taneja, CEO & Managing Director, Shriram Pistons; Ramashankar Pandey, MD, Hella India Lighting, and Chairman, Aftermarket Committee, ACMA; P Kaniappan, Managing Director, ZF Group; Debasish Satpathy, VP – Automotive Aftermarket, Schaeffler India; Nirmal K Minda, Chairman & Managing Director, UNO Minda; Jagdeep Rangar, Managing Director, Stork Rubber Products; S Muralidharan, Principal Consultant, Mobility Aftermarket, and Nikunj Sanghi, Chairman, Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC).

This event will give the visitors an inside look of what is going on in the aftermarket industry as well as what is going to happen in the near future.
